The world's first!

Hello!

We've been very busy since we wrote something here, but I think it was worth waiting for new blog entry. We are proud to say that we are the world's first screen recording software that allow it users to record their Full HD 60p videos directly into mp4 format in real-time. This is a huge thing for us. Read below to find out more about this totally new feature and other stuff that happened last month.

The world’s first HD video recording into .mp4 format in real time.

As we mentioned. Action! Screen Recorder is the world's first screen recording software that allow it users to record their videos directly to .mp4 format (even Full HD 60p with Intel® Quick Sync technology) in real time. What does that mean in practice? First of all you get from 10 to 20 smaller recording file size. Lowest CPU usage while recording, that means more free computer resources for other applications. See the image below for more details. Ignore the "Coming soon". This is already happening! You can download Action! Screen Recorder 1.11.0 now and try it for 30 days free with full functionality.

Will it run on my computer?

Some of you asked us this question on our facebook page. As you can see on the image above. This feature has been designed for Inte®l Quick Sync Video, because no one else provide similar technology that would allow us to support another producers such as AMD® or NVIDIA®, but that doesn't mean it won't happen someday. Most of 2nd and 3rd generation of Intel® Core™ processor family support Intel® Quick Sync Video technology. But "Will it run?"
To check that you have to do two step check.
  • Step First. Go to Intel® Desktop Processors and choose your current processor. Then go to Graphic Specifications and see if there is a "Yes" near Inte®l Quick Sync Video.
  • Step Two. Go to Intel® Desktop Chipsets and choose your current chipset. Go to Graphic Specifications and see if there is a "Yes" near Integrated Graphics.
If you received two "Yeses" then the MP4 (Inte®l Quick Sync Video) function should be available for you. If somehow it still is not available. Check out these two tutorials:
We released 4 Action! Screen Recorder versions since last entry. Two minor and two major ones. 1.9.1, 1.9.2, 1.10.0 and 1.11.0.

Action! 1.9.1

With 1.9.1 there's not much to talk about. After we released 1.9.0 we found out that we made a small mistake cancel export pop-up window. Luckily for us we noticed this bug very quickly and fixed it afterwards. Here's the full update list:
  • Improved performance of Windows 8 desktop and Windows 8 Modern UI Style applications recording
  • Important GUI improvements (fixed problem with cancel export popup window buttons)
  • Translations improvements

Action! 1.9.2

1.9.2 was a minor update but included few fixes that were bothering us for a long time. Finally we added support for graphics mod such as FXAA or TES. You were asking for this many times, now it's on. We also fixed a bug with Flash Player and Firefox browser that were causing Action! to crash. And we changed our installer to multi-language one. Full list of 1.9.2 updates below:
  • Fixed recording of games with FXAA mode installed. In example: Alan Wake, Battlefield 3, Skyrim
  • Fixed desktop region recording with region width set to 1280 and with video size set 720p (shifted video problem)
  • Fixed Flash player stability problem (Firefox browser) with Action! Screen Recorder running
  • Fixed problem with Skype stability with Action! Screen Recorder running
  • User Manuals updated
  • Small GUI improvements
  • Multi-language installer added

Action! 1.10.0

1.10.0 was all about the audio. We added few things that professionals and amateurs too should appreciate. First of all we added an option to record microphone to separate audio track. From version 1.10.0 if you tick "Record microphone to separate audio track" box you will have an .avi file with video path, system sounds audio path and microphone path. We also added settings that allow you to select microphone input audio device and system sound input audio device. Full change-log here:
  • Important fix for recording Windows 8 Modern UI Style applications
  • Added option to record microphone into separate audio track (for video recordings)
  • Added settings to select microphone input audio device
  • Added settings to select system sound input audio device
  • Fixed audio recording at 192kHz sampling frequency
  • Small GUI improvements
  • Stability improvements

Few more things about second audio path.
  1. Sony Vegas users.
If cannot import your .avi file into Sony Vegas check if your video audio is not 5.1. SV does not accept this type of audio path. To avoid this situation untick "Allow multi-channel audio recording" for games/videos that you think they may be 5.1.
  2. Adobe Premiere users
Somehow AP does not see our second audio path with microphone. Well a quick workaround for this is to export your second audio path from the original file. To do that you can use a free software such as Virtual Dub.

Action! 1.11.0

At this point of this entry you are probably know that 1.11.0 is a revolutionary version for us. Besides .mp4 recording we added few more options. One from the list is possibility to block Action! from monitoring selected applications. How to do that? Read the tutorial that we prepared for excluding applications. Second thing that is worth mentioning is YouTube file splitting. Many of you are verified YouTube users and were disappointed when Action! splitted your videos into parts. Now you can either decide how many parts do you want or if you don't want parts at all. Here's full change list:
  • NEW FEATURE: Direct video recording to MP4 (H.264/AVC) format using Intel® Quick Sync Video hardware acceleration technology (max FullHD 60p!)
  • NEW FEATURE: Direct video recording to MP4 (H.264/AVC) format using software encoding (max 480p)
  • Improved MP4 muxing performance
  • Maximum YouTube HD profile bitrate increased to 14Mbps
  • Added option to enable/disable file splitting when exporting to YouTube (with parts duration settings)
  • Added exclude list (possibility to block Action! Screen Recorder from monitoring selected applications)
  • Read tutorial.
  • "Hide HUD on Action! Screen Recorder startup" option added
  • Stability improvements

Dedicated tutorial and FAQ tabs.

Currently they are only available for Action! but we are going to expand them for our other products. You can find our tutorials for Action! here and the new redefined FAQ here.

New Splash and Action! updates.

Hello!

Few things happened since last entry and we thought that we owe you some words about them. In short we are after two major releases for Action (current version 1.9.1) and after a long awaited Splash players update (PRO and PRO EX). Read below to find out more about these updates and what changed.

Two major Action! updates - 1.8.0 and 1.9.0

In our last blog entry you were able to read that Action! 1.7.0 now fully support Windows 8. Next major update numbered 1.8.0 was also a huge feature step for our software. We added a cool function that allows you to pause and resume your recordings. So now if you want to get a cup of coffee to spend another few hours playing your favorite game you don't have to end your recordings, now you can just pause it with key combination shift + f9 (set by default) and resume it with the same combination when you get back to your computer.

What was also cool about 1.8.0? Logitech multimedia keyboards LCD displays support (Logitech G13/G15/G19 etc.). Now you can see lots of information on your Logitech LCD. Watch the video below and see what we are talking about.

Logitech G19 keyboard LCD display support

Logitech G13/G15 keyboard LCD display support

These two features were the main cause of 1.8.0 major update. Here's the full change log:
  • NEW FEATURE: Pause/resume for video recordings added
  • NEW FEATURE: Support for Logitech multimedia keyboards LCD displays (Logitech G13/G15/G19 etc.)
  • Changed default recordings folder on Windows 8 (fixes problems with desktop video recording)
  • Translations improvements
  • Stability fixes (closing Action! application)
  • Small GUI improvements

Let's talk about 1.9.0 now. Lots of you create amazing content and place it on YouTube. Recently you were asking about adding a customized watermark to your videos so people can recognize your brand. So we made it. From version 1.9.0 you are able to add images to your videos. See video below how exactly this works.

Action! 1.9.0 - Overlay graphics feature preview

Overlay graphics feature allows you to put your logo, company name, channel name and any graphic you want in 7 positions: top left, top centered, top right, bottom right, bottom centered, bottom left and centered. Followed image formats are supported: .jpg, .jpeg, .png and .bmp. Transparency is fully supported by the way.

We also made stability fixes for closing Action! application. In some cases Action! were freezing after closing. Good news, after updating to 1.9.0 this bug is no longer happening. Here's the full change log list:
  • NEW FEATURE: Adding custom logo and other overlay graphics for video recordings
  • Windows Media Player (and other players using EVR) recording fixed
  • Windows multi-user improvements for desktop recording
  • Stability fixes (closing Action! application)
  • Small GUI improvements (tray mode improvements)

And don't forget about one minor update.

We also made a little update for version 1.9.0. Here's the change log list for Action! 1.9.1
  • Improved performance of Windows 8 desktop and Windows 8 Modern UI Style applications recording
  • Important GUI improvements (fixed problem with cancel export popup window buttons)
  • Translations improvements

Small Clarification

One of our customers was confused about Action! updates. Since we reach 1.9.0 version he asked about Action! 2.0 and upgrade to this version.

First of all, currently we are not planning to release Action! 2.0 anytime soon. Next major Action! update will be marked as 1.10.0 and so on, unless Action! is 100% done. Then we will find a way to make it better so we can mark it as 2.0.0. Until then you don't have to worry for any additional update charges. After product purchase you are entitled to a free updates within purchased product version.

Here's a quote from our Terms of Sale about this matter:

"7.4 After product purchase you are entitled to a free updates within purchased product version. In example after purchase of Splash PRO (version 1.x.x) you are entitled to free updates to Splash PRO 1.x.x versions. Upgrades to next product versions (in example from Splash PRO 1.x.x to Splash PRO 2.x.x version) or other product versions (in example from Splash PRO to Splash PRO EX) are not free."

Long awaited Splash players updates

Lots of you had to wait almost 8 months for an solid update for Splash player. Recently you were asking if we dropped this project. The answer is "no", Splash is still something that we are proud off and we are not planning to drop it. The main reason you guys had to wait this long for an update is Splash baby brother Action! who needed a lot of care, definitely more than Splash which was a solid and stable HD player. During this time we precisely wrote down every single suggestion that has been sent to us.

We can call 1.13.0 update a small introduction to Splash update. New version of Splash PRO and Splash PRO EX is now ready to download. Here are the changelogs for these two versions of our player.

Splash PRO EX 1.13.0

  • IMPORTANT: Full support for Windows 8 added

Recording to .avi finally available!

Hello everyone,

Great things happened since last entry. The most interesting thing from the list is that we released a new Action! version 1.6.0 with recording directly to .avi format. Before the .avi there was also 1.5.0 version with .fic decoder that was a little step towards the .avi recording. But that doesn't matter anymore. From now you can record your amazing gameplays, video tutorial and everything you wan't in super HD quality in .avi format.

The short history of .fic decoder.

Before we head to 1.6.0 it's worth mentioning the 1.5.0 version which was a minor step towards the .avi recording. We were really satisfied about our own video format that you all know - .fic. but it was not supported by other applications so you always had to export your files to .mp4 format. Some of you did this correctly, some of you find difficulties while exporting your videos and wasn't fully satisfied with the exported video file. In 1.5.0 we created a .fic decoder that allowed Action! users to open .fic files in every application that uses DirectShow. After 1.5.0 release we received a lot of feedback from you. Kudos to you for that! But most of you had lots of problems with opening the .fic files in video editing software. That's was unacceptable and lead us to the .avi format. The .fic decoder dies its own natural way, but it's job will not be forgotten.

Here's a full list of the changes in 1.5.0:

  • NEW FEATURE: FIC decoding support added for applications supporting DirectShow decoders
  • Thumbnails for FIC recordings added for Windows Explorer
  • Improved Action! application closing stability
  • Fixed problem with cut videos when exporting with audio disabled (Audio track set to "Disabled" in export settings)

Action! records now directly to .avi

So here's the Action! moon step. In 1.6.0 version we added a .avi recording. This was long awaited Action! feature that you were asked. And here it is - Action! 1.6.0 with recording directly to .avi format which can be opened in every application that support this format i.e. Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere PRO, Sony Vegas and many many more. Except the container nothing has changed. Action! still records your footage in superb HD quality, CPU usage stays low as before. Action! is still Action!

Here's a full list of the changes in 1.6.0:

  • NEW FEATURE: Video recording in AVI 2.0 file format (with Mirillis FICV video compression)
  • NEW FEATURE: Editing of raw video recordings (in AVI format) is now possible in 3rd party software like:
      • Adobe After Effects
      • Adobe Premiere Pro
      • Camtasia Studio
      • Cyberlink Power Director
      • MAGIX Video Pro
      • Sony Vegas PRO
      • VirtualDub
      • Windows Live Movie Maker
  • Fixed problem with cut/corrupted exported MP4 videos (low disk space protection)
  • Improved raw FICV video quality in 3rd party software
  • Fixed ultra HD resolution recordings playback in Action! player
  • Small GUI improvements

Updates, features and more!

Hello Fans,

Only great news in this entry! In short, we reached 2000 fans on facebook, released a major update for Action! with great new features, especially useful for tutorial makers and we reorganized our Splash developers team so be patient, new updates are coming soon for our player! Below you can find more reading, enjoy.

Action!

We are after three releases since last entry. Chronologically in 1.3.3 we did some improvements that may affect people who do video tutorials with Action!, we fixed exporting where after export process audio was slowed and we added more keys available for hot keys. Here's the full update list:
  • Mouse cursor synchronization improvement for desktop recordings
  • "Slow motion" audio problem in exported MP4 files fixed (experienced for recordings with 192kHz audio)
  • More keyboard buttons are available as Hotkeys
  • Video recording improvements for low framerate recordings
  • Not starting export (showing 0% progress) problem fixed
  • Small UI improvements
Action! 1.3.4 is a bow for the 1.3.3. We found some more performance available to make your desktop recorder work smoother. We improved mouse movement so now it looks almost perfect. Here's the full list of changes in 1.3.4:
  • Mouse cursor synchronization improvements
  • Fix for numeric keyboard hotkeys
  • Small UI improvements
Action! 1.4.0 is a huge thing for us, it takes Action! to another level of making video tutorials. We added a feature that allows you to visualize your mouse clicks. Here a sneek peek that we released on Mirillis Fanpage before 1.4.0 was launched:
Since lots of people asked for this small, but practical feature, we have added a Capture Screenshot button to Active Desktop Region mode so now you can make your particular area screenshot directly from this mode. Green Camera button is waiting!

We also improved multi-display setups, so you should no longer meet any issues while using more than one monitor, but remember to always change you active desktop while recording with Action! to the one you want to record - F8 set by default.

.fic available for another applications?

Yes! We are working on our own codec that will allow you to open .fic files in every application that uses DirectShow. It will be ready soon, so be patient and stay close to our facebook page where we post information earlier than elsewhere.

Splash player

Since we received a lot of questions about Splash players and some people mention that we given up. We have great news. We reorganized our developers responsible for Splash player and they are working on next update. If you have any suggestions that you think we should include in next Splash versions let us know   at support@mirillis.com

Long time no see.

Hello Dear Fans!

"Long time no see" - British would say. It's been almost a month since our last entry. Here's the latest update and everything you probably know if you are our fan on facebook or follow us on twitter. If you are not, go and become one fast after reading this entry :)

This entry is about few things. First and most important of all is that we launched a Japanese version of our website. You can view it here www.mirillis.jp. With this launch, our support is now also available in Japanese language but only through the website www.mirillis.jp. The usual e-mail support@mirillis.com is still only in english.

Another sundays behind us and another Video of The Week are selected for our weekly cycle. Since we couldn't reach a contact with the authors we skipped part where we quote them about their experience with Action! software.

As the fifth Video of the Week, we have selected video recorded with Action! by aknakukac96. It's a gameplay from the new Angry Birds: Space Edition. His PC specification while recording the video wasPNY 9800GT @650/950Mhz - Intel E2160 @2.8GHZ - 3GB DDR2 RAM - Asrock P5B-DE Motherboard - Logitech Cillstream gamepad. Enjoy the video.

Sixth Video of the Week really impressed us. Bartosz222 did a really good job making this clip. Here's the video he made:

Latest video, fresh from this Sunday is a bit trick. You can guess it's either real life or Crysis game. The gaming future looks really bright with such a detailed graphics and models. We are looking forward to the next generation games. All credits for this video goes to its maker Barsathebest.

As you probably know, everyone can take part in our weekly contest. All you need to do is record your video with Action! software, properly tag it so we can easily spot it and highlight it. You can also send it to us via mirillis@mirillis.com.

Don't forget to follow us here also for further stories  and entries. Check also our newest tweets on @MirillisTeam and recent status updates on official fanpage.

Video of the Week #4

Hello everyone!

As you probably know, few weeks ago we started a new cycle called Video of the Week on our Facebook page. Every Sunday we pick one video from youtube or sent by our users to us. This week we found a video that make our crew laugh a bit :) All credits go to Wouter and his video catching bug in Battlefield 3. Here's what he said about that bug "I was minding my own business, when suddenly my left wheel hit the ocean and I started bouncing! It was like the ocean was playing badminton, and I was the shuttle :D I managed to capture the final moments :)"
Under the video we present you what Wouter told us about his experience with Action!

Hi!
First of all: I'm a big fan of your products, as I have bought every single one of them :)
One of the main reasons I use Action to record video's is that it hardly has any impact on my computer. With other recording tools the framerate is slown down noticeably even with a nice intel sandy bridge 2600k cpu.
I usually record with 30fps in Action because the files remain a descent size that way. I do have a 2TB drive, but this way I can record a lot :)The resolution I record is 1920x1200, the full resolution of my monitor. To send the movie to youtube I used the build in youtube (HD) tool in Action. I selected the high quality setting and used the highest mbit/s (7 I believe).
At the moment I might have a sandy bridge and 16GB of ram, but my videocard is still an nVidia gtx260. I'm looking for an upgrade, perhaps the new GTX680. It's just that I'd rather have the GK110 chip instead of the GK104 in this card.
Because I still have a gtx260 I have Battlefield 3 running on low settings. I manage to reach 60fps easily, and I like to keep it that way: I rather have a high fps than fancy graphics with low fps.
Thanks for choosing my video!Wouter

Remember everyone have a chance to join the cycle and be highlighted! Just send us your Action! videos or share your links on our facebook wall! Don't forget to correctly tag your recordings on Youtube or other video sites! It will help us with finding all your recordings. Video of the Week #3

Hello again,

Another Sunday is behind us and another Video of the Week has been chosen on our Facebook page. This time it's a gameplay from first mission perspective in Need For Speed: The Run recorded by blueburnHD with Action! software. First time in NFS series you can actually get out of the car and play as actual character so it's something different than all the previous series. We tried to contact author of this video for further information about his experience with Action! and his PC specifications. We didn't receive any response so this time w have to skip this part, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't watch the video. It's prime quality and shows a bit of the fun that goes along with Need For Speed: The Run. Don't forget to turn 1080p. Enjoy!

We mentioning this in every single entry, so here it is again! Everyone have a chance to join the cycle and be highlighted! Just send us your Action! videos or share your links on our facebook wall! Don't forget to correctly tag your recordings on Youtube or other video sites! It will help us with finding all your recordings. Because apart from the fact that you send your videos to us, we are looking for you online all the time!

Don't forget to follow us here also for further stories  and entries. Check also our newest tweets on @MirillisTeam and recent status updates on official fanpage.

P.S. As soon as we get any response from blueburnHD we will update this note so you can have more information about this video and his experience with Action!

Second video of the week - Mass Effect 3 Headshot Compilation

Second Video of the Week from our cycle is here. It’s headshots compilation made by nickSer28 recorded with Action! in fresh hot Mass Effect 3. Under the video you can read nickSer28’s personal opinion about Action! and his PC specification. Since nickSer28 is Spanish we have to translate his opinion for our English speaking users.

Enjoy the video and visit our Facebook page, where you can post your videos and be the next chosen in our weekly cycle Video of the Week. Share your video on our Facebook wall or send link to your video to our email mirillis@mirillis.com.

Here’s what nickSer28 told us about his PC specifications and experience with Action!
“Really amazing, never imagined that it was so easy to handle and less impressive quality that records video. It’s a master program, plus, if it’s good in itself it gets better if you’re owner of NVIDIA graphics card, then it’s no equal to others”

And here’s nickSer28’s PC specification and graphic settings he used in Mass Effect 3:
- PC:
Windows ® 7 Home Premium - 64 bit.
Intel ® Core ™ i7 - 2600 (3.3 GHz).
NVIDIA ® GT530 2GB.
8GB RAM DDR3.
1 TB hard drive.
Monitor LG Flatron L1915S 19 ".
- Graphics Settings Mass Effect 3:
Resolution: 1200x1024.
Window mode: Full Screen.
Brightness: 0
Antialiasing: Yes
Enable dynamic shadows: Yes

As we said in beginning everyone have a chance to join the cycle and be highlighted! Just send us your Action! videos or share your links on our facebook wall! Don't forget to correctly tag your recordings on Youtube or other video sites! It will help us with finding all your recordings. Because apart from the fact that you send your videos to us, we are looking for you online all the time!

We switched to Facebook Timeline for Pages.

Hello fans.

At the end of February Facebook launched Timeline for Pages. It didn't take long to see how much potential it gives for corporate commercial brands and companies like ours. So we didn't hesitate for a long time and decided to follow the trends. Our Facebook Page is now adapted to new Facebook look, which will be mandatory for each page on march 30th. We decided to switch it in advance because of our fans. We wanted to give you opportunity to adjust to our new look earlier than March 30th. Additionally, together with the new Facebook Timeline start, we launched two dedicated tabs for our page.

First one, green icon with white play button, is the Video Tutorials tab where you can find all the tutorials made by Mirillis Team. This is still work in progress, but currently you can watch two basic tutorials for Action! First is Mirillis Action! basics - about HUD in desktop recording mode where you can learn how to setup your HUD and configure all the settings that goes on with it. On the second video Mirillis Action! basics - games, desktop and desktop region recording overview you can learn all about Action! basics such as setting up desktop region recording and learning about three different recording modes.

Second tab called Support Desk is dedicated for our users who find troubles while using our software. Clicking on blue icon will open a Facebook tab with our support form where you can describe your problem and send a ticket to our support staff who will contact you with solution to fix your problem.

We think that these two are the most important for our fans and should be highlighted as first two. The rest tabs you can view by rolling up the menu, simply click the arrow down right from the blue Support Desk tab.

So as you can see, we are changing. We h ope that these changes will receive a positive feedback from our fans, because you're are important to us. We are always open for suggestions, so do not hesitate to contact us.
